My Boy Mai!

What is the story behind Rosewell, the UFO that crashed into New Mexico years ago? Did the government really try to hide this from the world?

Your Boy Riel!
***************************

Okay! So the Roswell UFO incident was the alleged recovery of extra-terrestrial debris, including alien corpses, from an object which crashed near Roswell, New Mexico, USA, in June or July 1947. A rancher who was out checking his cattle came across a large field covered in the debris which measured 3/4 of a mile long. The wreckage was reported as tiny pieces of shiny, metallic material. It was like nothing the rancher had ever seen so he contacted the Roswell Army Air Field and talked to major Jesse A. Marcel. News spread across Roswell with "flying saucer" reports on the front page of the news. On July 8, 1947, Roswell Army Air Field public information office in Roswell, New Mexico, issued a press release stating that personnel had recovered a crashed "flying disc" from a ranch near Roswell, sparking intense media interest. The following day, the press reported that Commanding General of the Eighth Air Force stated that, in fact, a radar-tracking balloon had been recovered by the RAAF personnel, not a "flying disc. A subsequent press conference was called, featuring debris from the crashed object that confirmed the weather balloon debris. All a little suspicious and secretive for a little balloon crash I'd say!

The case was quickly forgotten and almost completely ignored, even by UFO researchers, for more than 30 years. Then, in 1978, physicist and ufologist Stanton Freidman interviewed Major Jesse A. Marcel who was involved with the original recovery. Marcel expressed his belief that the military had covered up the recovery of an alien spacecraft. He stated that he felt pressured by the military to tell the media it was a weather balloon crash.

Additional witnesses and reports emerged over the following years. They added significant new details, including claims of a huge military operation dedicated to recovering alien craft and aliens themselves, at as many as 11 crash sites, and alleged witness intimidation. A women reported to have worked on recovering the debris and says that alien bodies were found, both dead and alive. In 1989, former mortician Glenn Dennis claimed in a personal detailed account that alien autopsies were carried out at the Roswell base.

Since the late 1970s the incident has been the subject of intense controversy and the subject of conspiracy theories as to the true nature of the object which crashed. The US military maintains that what was actually recovered was debris from an experimental high-altitude surveillance balloon belonging to a classified program names "Mogul"; however, many UFO proponents maintain that in fact a crashed alien craft and bodies were recovered, and that the military then engaged in a cover-up.

It's a crazy world out there!

taxi

What does TAXI stand for and where did the cars originate?

Taxi Cab Taxi Cab

peace!

******************

Riel,

Taxi stands for Transparent Asynchronous Transmitter/Receiver Interface. What's that you say? Well, I have no idea. And it doesn't explain it anywhere, and even if it did that doesn't sounds so thrilling to me. So let's look more at the history....

The first Taxi existed in Ancient Rome where they employed a mechanism that used the turning of the cart's axle to release small balls. At the end of the trip, the passenger paid based on the number of balls that were released.

Horse-drawn carriages for hire began operating in London and Paris in the 1600's. The first service to ever be documented was in 1640 in Paris by a man named Nicolas Sauvage.

The first Canadian taxi service was in 1837 in Toronto by an ex-slave who escaped to Canada from Detroit.

The modern taximeter was invented in Germany by a man named Wilhelm Brun in 1891. These weren't put into taxi cabs though until a few years later in 1897, in Germany's first taxi company. Taximeters used to be kept outside the cars because they'd tick loudly while keeping track of your fare. The electronic meters that we know today were invented in the 1980's, allowing for the meters to be put inside the cars.

Gasoline-powered taxicabs began operating in Paris in 1899, in London in 1903, and in New York in 1907. The New York taxicabs were imported from France by Harry N. Allen. He was the first person to paint his taxicabs yellow after learning that yellow is the colour that is most easily seen from a distance.

languages

Mai,

How many Languages are there in the world? What was the first alphabet written and the first language spoken??

Cheers!

Riel xx

**********

Riel,

How many languages is a tricky question. Since there are so many small communities that speak their own dialects, mainly in the jungle regions. According to Ethnologue there is 6,912 "living" languages, defined as languages that people speak today. There are many languages that are "dying" out. For example the Unites States has 238 languages but only 162 of those are "living" and will continue on with the next generations.

The first alphabet was founded in Ancient Egypt. It emerged around 2000 BCE to represent the language of Semitic workers in Egypt, and was derived from the alphabetic principles of the Egyptian hieroglyphs. Nearly all alphabets in the world today either descend directly from this development or were inspired by its design. The Greek alphabet was descended from the Egyptians and is considered one of the first "true" alphabets. All European alphabets are descended from the Greek alphabet.

The language question is hard depending on your beliefs. The first language spoken was Semitic language (Arabic, Aramaic, hebrew) of the middle east. The language of all prophets and the language of prophet Adam the first man to come to earth. All modern languages originated from this language. It is also believed that the first language originated somewhere in Africa and is not written in history. Some also say that man evolved from apes and that they had their own forms of language.

mai xx.
